Englewood Construction Completes Zara Flagship Store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago

Zara Flagship Store on Michigan Avenue in ChicagoEnglewood Construction has announced the completion of the largest Zara store in the country, a 33,838-square-foot flagship store at 700 N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago. The new Zara store is a build-out of the former Talbots space within the eight-story Chicago Place building.

Boasting a glass storefront along Michigan Avenue and Huron Street, the three-story Zara features a Michigan Avenue entrance and occupies space on the building's first floor, mezzanine and second floor.

"Given that Zara is one of the fastest-growing retail brands in the world, it's only fitting that the company chose one of the most famous shopping districts in the world for its flagship store," said Bill Di Santo, president of Englewood Construction.

"From a construction standpoint, this store has a strong exterior presence due to its three-story glass storefront and a clean interior with a sophisticated color palette and modern finishes," Di Santo continued. "It's very in tune with Michigan Avenue's international shopping base."

This marks Englewood Construction's third completion of a Zara store. In November 2008, Englewood completed the Spanish retailer's first store in the Midwest at Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Center in Skokie, Ill. as well as a Zara in Peabody, Mass.

Zara Flagship Store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago"To keep its momentum with store roll outs, Zara is definitely making smart choices by aligning itself with partners who also have a national presence, like us and their architectural firm," said Di Santo. "We can move with them from location to location, providing the same point of contact for all stores. This eliminates the learning curve for all parties resulting in a smoother construction process."

Montreal-based AEdifica, Inc. served as architect for Zara's Michigan Avenue store. Englewood Construction and AEdifica also worked together on Zara's Old Orchard location as well as the Peabody, Mass. store.
