Englewood Construction Completes Marcello's Market and Deli in Chicago Loop

Marcello's Market and Deli in Chicago Englewood Construction, a national commercial construction general contractor, announces the completion of its latest Chicago-area project, the 2,960-square-foot Marcello's Market and Deli at 155 N. Wacker Drive in Chicago's Loop.

The European-styled "fast casual" cafe and gourmet market is the first U.S. franchise location for Marcello's. The Ottawa, Ontario-based company has more than two dozen franchise locations throughout Canada.

"Because this was the company's foray into the U.S., it was important to them to work with a commercial contractor who had experience with international brands," said Bill Di Santo, president of Schiller Park, Ill.-based Englewood Construction. "Our previous work with Canadian brands such as Lululemon Athletica and Premier Salons on their U.S. stores, as well as Spanish companies like Zara and Mango gave them a comfort level with our team. And all the differences that come up when working with an international company, from U.S. customs and logistics to metric conversion, it's all second nature to us."

Marcello's Market and Deli also falls into a sweet spot for Englewood Construction as it's one of many fast casual restaurants the firm has completed recently. Other projects include the new Pei Wei Asian Diner restaurant from P.F. Chang's in Willowbrook, Ill., and numerous Noodles & Company locations across the country.

The 26-seat Marcello's Market and Deli is located on the ground floor of the John Buck Company's 46-story commercial high rise at the corner of Wacker Drive and Randolph Street in the Loop. The restaurant was designed by Barker Nestor, Inc., based in Skokie, Ill.
